Scent of a Woman | So Elixir Purple by Yves Rocher

Hello again! Today's Sunday which means - as you already know from my previous posts - another great fragrance is going to be in the spotlight; for this session I picked up Yves Rocher's So Elixir Purple, a beautiful concotion released in September 2012 and signed by Marie Salamagne, the parfumeur who also signed the very first version of the So Elixir line. She described this new fragrance as a "woody floral fragrance that is both sensual and modern with a strong signature that leaves an enveloping scent in its wake." Balsamic, aromatic and spicy topped with beautiful tuberose and wrapped in a cloud of smoky incense. That's the way in which I perceive this purplish juice. The vetiver is such a raw, earthly note, but in combination with the milky, honey-kissed turberose becomes very elegant and captivating; moreover, the sweetness of vanilla and tuberose altogether is perfectly balanced by the zesty bergamot, which, along with those woodsy notes, encloses this scent in an absolute harmony. A slightly tint of jasmine can be sniffed in here, but it might be one of the various facets of tuberose, giving this scent a dark, fascinating and sensual side. Like Thierry Mugler's Alien this perfume has something special in it and that's because flowers and spices are always an appropriate combination.

The bottle resembles the original design, the only difference being the colour, which, in this case, is a beautiful deep purple that reminds me of ripped grapes. The box featured in these pictures and also the one in which the perfume came is a combination of extremely dark and "normally" (does this exist?) dark purple with the tuberose flower on it. The new boxes are a bit different, more modern and minimal (you can check the design here), the colour combination for this So Elixir version being purple (obvious, you smart-ass!) and silver.

I recommend you to check this if you are a big fan of heady, dark and sweet fragrances as I am. And, as always, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
